Despite rain, South Boston Fort Independence Tea Party a big success with stirring speeches!

POSTED: August 26, 2010

Despite driving rains which caused people across the state to assume it was canceled, and despite an active campaign by RINO "Republicans" to shut down the event, last Sunday's Fort Independence Tea Party at Castle Island in South Boston last was a great success.

Nearly 150 people braved the weather and came to South Boston and they weren't disappointed. By many accounts it was among the best and most invigorating Tea Party events yet in Massachusetts. Not even the low-flying aircraft overhead could drown out the enthusiasm! (The fort is in a flight path to Logan Airport.)     See videos below.

Even as the rain poured down, people kept coming. Luckily, the speakers were under a tent!

A major theme of the day was that citizens are no longer going to be afraid to voice the truth about the serious issues facing America. The Tea Party phenomenon is not about crafting a message to elect moderate Republican candidates. It's about people taking a stand to take back their country. And it's about letting all candidates know loud and clear that people are tired of business as usual. Neither the liberal media looking to demonize Tea Partiers -- nor the RINO "Republicans" who are afraid of the liberal media -- can force citizens to water down their message and their outrage.

A great cast of speakers and stirring messages

Among the speakers (and see videos below):

Susan Long - Head of South Boston Tea Party (hosting event), mother of a disabled veteran from Iraq war, gave a stirring speech about the meaning of being an American.

Sean Harrington - The now-famous student at Arlington High School who single-handedly forced the school system to have the Pledge of Allegiance recited at the beginning of the school day.

Judge Joseph Nolan -- retired Massachusetts Supreme Court Justice. Judge Nolan, a South Boston hero, gave a stirring speech on fighting the culture war and speaking the truth.

Jack Nash - Watertown Tea Party activist and radio personality talked about not being afraid to fight back.

Brian Camenker - President of MassResistance. Discussed enormous taxpayer funding of graphic, explicit homosexual and transgender programs in schools and showed several vivid and shocking examples.

Patrick Brennan - Co-founder of South Boston Tea Party and candidate for state representative. Talked about how America's principles shaped his background.

C.J. Doyle - Executive Director of Catholic Action League of Massachusetts. In our opinion the best speech of the day. He spoke on the importance of not abandoning the principles of morality and "social issues" in the Tea Party Movement.

Loren Spivack - "Free Market Warrior" who gives free Tea Party seminars educating people about economics, markets, and freedom (as opposed to socialism).

Richard Howell - Pioneer Valley Tea Party Leader. Talked about the history of Fort Independence and its relevance to today.

Jessica Vaughan - From Center for Immigration Studies in Washington, DC. Discussed the illegal immigration threat and its long-term impact on America.

David Beaupre - Head of North Shore Independence Tea Party, and ex-Marine.

Keith Davis - Activist from western Massachusetts who is a pro-family write-in candidate for Lt. Governor in Republican Primary.

And several other activist leaders and candidates.

Flight path. Every few minutes a plane going to or from nearby Logan Airport would fly by. Some were certainly louder than others.
