Public hearing for new Mass. Transgender Rights and Hate Crimes Bill H502 scheduled for Wednesday June 8!

Just when you think you have a breather, it starts again . . .

POSTED: June 18, 2011

In the last two Massachusetts legislative sessions the homosexual-transgender lobby has attempted to pass a radical transgender rights and hate crimes bill. Both times -- thanks to hard pro-family frontline lobbying -- the bills failed to even get out of committee, despite having huge numbers of co-sponsors. (Last session it had over half the Legislature as co-sponsors, and it was the stated top priority of the gay lobby, but the bill still couldn't get out of committee!)

This year they're back with a new bill, which they've re-written and submitted as H502 (also S764 - the Senate version of the same bill). They have significantly fewer co-sponsors this time, probably owing to the huge pressure put on them by pro-family forces last year.

But it's still the official top priority of the homosexual lobby to get it passed this year. And they seem to be sparing no effort to get it done, including a big media campaign and a full-court press in the State House.

Public Hearing on June 8 at the State House!

There will be a public hearing on the Transgender Bill before the Joint Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, June 8, at 1:00 pm in Gardner Auditorium in the State House. Here is the MassResistance report (with photos) of last year's public hearing.  Look for them to bring in all their big lobbying guns - and more - this year.

We are encouraging as many people as possible to come and testify. The future of your religious rights are on the line.

You may recall that last year the Judiciary Committee intentionally wore us down by cramming over 200 other bills into that same public hearing -- clearly an impossible task to deal with -- which left many of us waiting until nearly 11 pm to testify.  Most people had to leave without testifying. It was a disgrace. Will the Judiciary Committee dare do that again this year? At this point we don't know what other bills will be taken up that day.

Full MassResistance report on Bill H502 coming up

Its description of the bill reads "legislation relative to gender-based discrimination and hate crimes." In some ways this newly written version is even more radical and in-your-face than the previous ones. As we've done in the past, MassResistance is preparing a full line-by-line analysis of the bill's text, which we hope to have ready very soon.
