Leftists try to ban Bible from California school district. MassResistance directs successful community opposition to a ban.
Pro-family reaction is so overwhelming that even many local radicals back down – and oppose Bible ban in their testimony.
School board (including the leftist members) vote unanimously to keep the Bible – and even expand its availability into lower grades.
Caution: Disturbing graphic language (not from the Bible!)
April 28, 2026
The leftists tirelessly promote obscenity in school libraries, but allowing the Bible agitates them!We knew this would eventually happen, and we were prepared for it!
Redlands, California is a conservative-leaning city of 73,000 located 60 miles east of Los Angeles. But the five-member school board had been controlled by liberals and the schools there reflected that. It caused many families to leave the school system.
School board gets conservative majority, begins taking pro-family actions
Then in November 2024, conservatives got a 3-2 majority and began making pro-family changes. The board passed a flag policy (effectively banning “LGBT” flags), and a resolution demanding protection of girls’ sports, and began work on a strong parental notification policy.
The leftists in town were livid and reacted with vicious attacks against school board members and local parents. So in August 2025, local citizens asked MassResistance to come and help them fight back. That’s made a big difference at school board meetings!
“Sexually explicit” book policy passes
On August 19, 2025, the board passed a policy against books with “sexually explicit material.” The pro-LGBT leftists were furious but were outnumbered. The process to remove a book in the Redlands schools is similar to other bureaucratic book challenge processes, and each book challenge is ultimately voted on by the school board.
In December 2025, the board dealt with two sexually explicit graphic books: It voted to remove Push by Sapphire and restricted The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison to students 18 and older or with parental consent.
Book challenge is filed against the Bible
The leftists’ continued rants at school committee meetings against the book policy went nowhere. So in March 2026, one of them filed a book complaint against the King James version of the Bible, which was in the high school library. He claimed that the Bible is obscene and pornographic.
The school board’s discussion and vote was set for its April 14 meeting. The leftists spread the word in the mainstream media about the Bible being challenged in Redlands, hoping to get outside momentum. Soon even the New York Post ran a story on it.
Fighting this absurd and offensive book challenge
But our California MassResistance team got right to work. We made sure our activists in Redlands had strong talking points for the public comment time. And we encouraged our people to bring other parents to the meeting. We weren’t going to let blasphemous leftists gain an inch.
So on April 14, about 50 people crowded into the school board meeting room for this issue.
The Bible’s challenger testifies
The leftist who filed the challenge had previously identified himself as a substitute teacher. When he spoke, his explanation reflected how leftists think about pornography and children. To explain how the Bible is pornographic, he brought up Genesis 19:32 and 19:36:
Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father … Thus, were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.
He testified that these Biblical quotes have basically the same effect on kids as in the two books that were removed back in December. “There is a message from this much like there was a message in The Bluest Eye and in Push about how to overcome these adverse scenarios that too many people are exposed to,” he said.
Really? Let’s look at excerpts from those two books:
1. Push, by Sapphire. The book involves a lot of explicit sex and includes incest, rape, nudity, drug use, violence, excessive profanity, self-harm, and racism. Some sample text:
She look at me like I said I wanna suck a dog's dick or some shit ... A girl have her father's dick in her mouth know things the other girls don't know … I was raped by my father. And beat … It started when I was, oh, about four or five years old with him fondling me … By the time I was twelve he was having intercourse with me three or four times a week. (See more here.)
2. The Bluest Eye, by Toni Morrison
The book contains depictions of rape, molestation, explicit sex, alcohol abuse, racism, and anti-religious rants. Some sample text:
A bolt of desire ran down his genitals, giving it length, and softening the lips of his anus. … He wanted to fuck her … the gigantic thrust he made into her then provoked the only sound she made—a hollow suck of air in the back of her throat … The little girls are the only things I'll miss ... I touched their sturdy little tits and bit them. (See more here.)
He tried to make it seem as though outright, explicit depictions of pornography in the two other books were on the same level as Biblical narrative. Granted, the Bible does retell that the daughters of Lot slept with their father to get pregnant, but the details of those acts are not described. Pornography, like the passages in The Bluest Eye and Push, provides explicit and salacious descriptions of sexual contact, which no child should read.
The leftist who filed the Bible challenge yells outside of a school committee meeting (left) and presents his anti-Bible testimony at the April 14 meeting (right). Note the "Protect Trans Youth" sticker on his shirt. He finished his testimony by saying that if they aren’t going to remove the Bible, there should be no book policy at all. In his opinion, the pornography in all three books is basically the same. This is not surprising; it is how leftists think about what children should read.
The rest of the testimony
Our preparation paid off. There were 24 pro-family people who testified against removing the Bible. Their testimony was strong, passionate, and well thought out. It overpowered any possible arguments in favor. A few of them called out some of the leftists by name and castigated them directly for their stupid stunt.
As one local resident said, the Bible lays a foundation for righteousness for the community. The other books are about normalizing destructive behaviors in the minds of children.
Six of the leftist contingent testified. But they were clearly overwhelmed by the pro-Bible outpouring. They didn’t attempt to make a case for the Bible’s removal. Instead, they just tried to equate the Bible with Push and The Bluest Eye. They argued that because of that controversy there shouldn’t be a book policy at all.
The school board’s vote
Before the vote, the five board members had a 12-minute discussion about it. The three conservatives stood their ground supporting the Bible’s timeless value for everyone. The board’s two leftists were clearly flailing. They insisted that it all shows that the book policy must go. One of the leftist members, Melissa Ayala-Quintero, suggested restricting the Bible for certain age groups because of subjects like rape, genocide, misogyny, etc. But board member Michelle Rendler reminded her that this is only about “sexually explicit material.”
The school board discusses the Bible ban before their vote. Then board member Candy Olson made a motion to keep the Bible – and to expand it from high school to all grade levels. It was like a line in the sand. The vote was 5-0 in favor. Clearly, nobody wanted the negative PR for voting to remove the Bible!
It was a great win – crushing the leftists again!

First, there should be no need for such a book removal policy. There should be normal people working in our schools who would never allow explicit materials to be brought in.
And second, we cannot reiterate enough how vile these leftist activists are. They come to school committee meetings each month to oppose any barrier against pushing horrible pornography on other people’s children. Note that the fellow who brought the challenge to remove the Bible admits to being a substitute teacher. That should sound an alarm for all of us!
Please help us continue to do our uncompromising work!
Our successes depend on people like you.
Your support will make the difference!
