At California school board meeting: Local MassResistance citizens shut down leftists demanding that obscene books be in school libraries.

With the Left’s intimidation tactics thwarted, the board begins removing books!

Angry leftists want depraved books available to everyone’s children.

Caution: Disturbing descriptions

December 21, 2025
ALT TEXT Before the school board meeting, father at right asks leftist, "Do you know that sexual predators use pornography to groom children?" Rather than answer, he started shouting to end any conversation.

Why are sexually obscene books in so many school libraries – and in the youth section of so many public libraries?

Most parents don’t realize that pushing horrible pornography on children has become almost a religious obsession with leftists. The porn pushed on children includes graphic sexual themes, depraved LGBT behaviors, and sickening imagery. The people doing this don’t care that this can severely harm children and negatively impact them throughout their lives. In fact, they don’t even view it as “harming” children.

This is happening in schools and public libraries across the country. And it won’t be stopped easily. The first step is confronting the people who aggressively support it and attempt to intimidate public officials to keep these materials available to children.

Organizing to stop the Left’s terror campaign in Redlands, CA

Earlier this year, we described how MassResistance was asked to come to Redlands, California (a conservative-leaning city 60 miles east of Los Angeles). Pro-family citizens wanted our help dealing with a well-organized terror campaign by vicious leftists aimed at stopping the conservative-majority school board from passing a pro-family book policy.

In a subsequent post, we reported how MassResistance worked with local citizens to derail the leftist mob’s efforts – and so the pro-family book policy passed!

But that was just the beginning. Now the mob was back to intimidate the school board to vote against removing books. But MassResistance citizens also came back!

Using the new policy, school board prepares to vote on the first two challenged books

The new Redlands School District book policy is cumbersome but workable. It allows anyone in the district, including students and staff members, to file a complaint. Then the complaint goes to a three-person “review committee” which includes the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, and the Director of Elementary or Secondary Education.

Each committee member reviews it on a rubric scorecard. Their scores determine whether the book should be (1) removed, (2) moved to a restricted area, or (3) left on the shelf. If the complainant disagrees with that decision, he may appeal to the school board. The school board then holds a public hearing and votes on it.

Right after the policy was passed, a Redlands MassResistance parent filed complaints on these two books in the Redlands high school libraries:

1. Push, by Sapphire.

The book involves a lot of explicit sex and includes incest, rape, nudity, drug use, violence, excessive profanity, self-harm, and racism.

Some sample text:

She look at me like I said I wanna suck a dog's dick or some shit ... A girl gave her father's dick in her mouth know things the other girls don't know … I was raped by my father. And beat … It started when I was, oh, about four or five years old with him fondling me … By the time I was twelve he was having intercourse with me three or four times a week. (See more here.)

2. The Bluest Eye, by Toni Morrison

The book contains depictions of rape, molestation, explicit sex, alcohol abuse, racism, and anti-religious rants.

Some sample text:

A bolt of desire ran down his genitals, giving it length, and softening the lips of his anus. … He wanted to fuck her … the gigantic thrust he made into her then provoked the only sound she made—a hollow suck of air in the back of her throat … The little girls are the only things I'll miss ... I touched their sturdy little tits and bit them. (See more here.)

It’s hard to believe that anyone wants kids to read these.

The review committee’s assessment of the books was very troubling, but sadly not surprising. They were not particularly upset or alarmed over these books. None voted to remove either of them. Instead, they voted to move them to a more restricted area in the school library.

We were able to get the committee’s scorecards for both books.  Here’s how the three staffers graded Push and The Bluest Eye. The parent disagreed and appealed to the school board.

The Redlands School Board scheduled the public hearing and vote on these two books for their December 9 regular meeting.

Leftists organize to keep these books in the school

When local leftists heard that these two books might be removed, they organized to come to the public hearing. Their usual intimidation tactics have included aggressive and loud behavior, and vile name-calling of the conservative school board members and even conservative parents who testify.

But the local MassResistance chapter of parents and citizens weren’t having any of that! There’s a growing feeling in the community that people who come to a school board meeting to push obscenity on other people’s schoolchildren need to be confronted, not avoided.

Before the meeting –turning the tables on the Left’s intimidation

Before each school Redlands board meeting, the leftists generally gather outside the entrance to the building. It’s sort of a mini-rally (they even bring food), and serves to intimidate pro-family people who are coming. But local parents and citizens came and turned the tables by confronting them there! The leftists didn’t like that at all, and their intimidation fell flat. Here’s what happened:

ALT TEXT Attempting to dialogue with leftists. Woman on left was asked, "Are you really OK with this stuff?" She wouldn't answer that qestion. Then the woman on the right said "If you don't want your kids to read those books you can prevent them from reading them. You don't have the right to tell me that my child can't read that book." When asked why it should be forced in the schools, she asked. "Who's forcing them?" This is their logic regarding the children in the community and pornography.

During the public hearing: Countering the odious leftist talking points

During the public testimony, our people came prepared and stomped on the Left’s odious talking points supporting the two books.

The leftist speakers cleverly tailored their testimony to come from various perspectives. But they all basically re-stated the same arguments:

ALT TEXT "When you label this book as pornography, you shame survivors of child abuse. This is victim blaming. This book has a strong and positive message. Students can make the choice to read it. If you dismiss all that and focus only on its sexual content I believe you have serious issues of sexual fixation."

The pro-family speakers completely countered all of that. Here are the points that they made:

ALT TEXT "Parents like myself are pushing back to try to get this book out of the reach of our kids in school. Kids have no business reading about sexual activities. They need to focus on academics. Please get these books removed from school. They're not helping the kids at all."

There's no denying these novels contain graphic depictions of sexual violence, incest, explicit sexual acts, and extreme trauma. These scenes are not merely implied. They are described in detail.

The vote by the Board: Remove one and “restrict” the other

Push: The board voted 3-2 to permanently remove Push from high school libraries - overturning a committee's recommendation to keep it with restrictions.

But for The Bluest Eye, the board voted 5-0 to restrict access to students 18 and older who have written parental consent. At a high school, this is probably nearly the same as removing it.

The leftists appeared angry, but after the drubbing they’d gotten earlier in the meeting, their reaction was pretty muted!

Final thoughts

More book challenges (and public hearings) are coming up. There are other books in the Redlands school libraries that are even more depraved.

But the real success is the momentum that this has begun for making more progress. It shows that the school board is ready to enact real reform on a larger scale. They just need the strong backing from the community that MassResistance can help provide.

All the radicalism in the schools needs to be rooted out. And that can happen!

The problem isn’t the books. It isn’t even the leftist activists. It’s the school librarians who purposefully bring these hideous books in, and the teachers, staffers, and administrators who support it.

We have to assume the adults behind this are themselves regular consumers of porn. “Social science confirms that those who view floods of Internet pornography adopt cynical attitudes toward innocents,” writes scholar Scott Yenor.

In upcoming posts, we document the Redlands School District’s book problem further, showing just how horrible and anti-family the teachers and staffers are – even though it’s a “conservative” community. And make no mistake – this problem is likely just as bad or worse in your local schools!
