Wisconsin parents aggressively shake up town government over obscene children’s library books.

Town officials attempted to silence and intimidate parents. But no longer!

Parents don’t hold back. They tell library board, “You all are sick and perverted.”

ALT TEXT For too long, parents have been intimidated into being polite and politically correct. But if you want results, it's time to tell the truth!

We’re teaching parents that if you want to get the attention of public officials on issues they want to ignore, you have to begin to play hardball!

It is shocking and offensive that public officials around the country have no interest in protecting children from the pornography and sexual imagery in library books brought in by radical library directors. We see it everywhere.

Instead, parents who complain are forced to fill out time-consuming “book challenge forms” (which are never approved) and go through other bureaucratic hoops. And if they keep raising a fuss, they can expect officials to find ways to intimidate and ultimately silence them.

Most parents meekly comply and even do their best to appear “moderate” and “reasonable.” But MassResistance opposes that approach. To get officials’ attention, the truth must be told boldly!

The local library becomes a hub for porn and perversion

Hales Corners, Wisconsin is a small suburb of Milwaukee (technically a “village”) with a population of about 7,700. In a county that’s considered “deep blue,” Hales Corners votes relatively conservative.

For nearly two years, local parents have been trying to get the obscene books out of their local library. The Hales Corner library, run by a radical leftist library director and a leftist library board, had become a depository of horrible pornography and LGBT propaganda targeting kids.

Library books the parents are outraged about include:
[Caution: disturbing material]

Let’s Talk About It, by Erika Moen/Matthew Nolan – excerpts

This Book is Gay, by Juno Dawson – excerpts

It’s Perfectly Normal, by Robie H Harris/Michael Emberly – excerpts

Heartstopper Volume 5, by Alice Oserman – description

The parents were told to go through the process of submitting “challenge forms” for each of the books. But then, all their challenges were denied. The library officials and town officials basically ignored the parents after that.

When the parents tried to read excerpts of the books at library board meetings, the board told them that it was not allowed because it was a repetition of what they had submitted in their challenge filings. (That speech restriction is against state law, we later found out.)  It was maddening – and depressing.

MassResistance jumps in to help!

But the parents did not want to give up. In August they contacted MassResistance, and formed a local Wisconsin MassResistance chapter. Things were about to change drastically!

At the August 28 library board meeting, the parents made it clear that they would no longer be ignored. Several parents protested outside of the meeting – with very descriptive signs. So everyone who attended, as well as people who drove by, could see what the problem was!

The real action began inside, at the meeting. During public comment, two parents gave fiery testimony. Those meetings are not videoed, but one of the parents showed us what she read. She had pointed at the library director, Stephanie Lewin-Lane, and said:

You have allowed our library to become a cesspool of perversion! You are a pervert and so is every member of this board that goes along to get along! If it wasn't for the loophole in the law, you'd all be in jail. You are ALL pushing porn and sodomy on our children. Shame on you, you perverts!

And she went on from there! She ended by reading a Bible verse. (More on that later.)

The library officials had never faced that kind of wrath before. They were dumbfounded and reacted childishly. For example, on the sidewalk outside the building, one of the parents had written a chalk message: “Stephanie Lewin-Lane pushes porn on kids.” The library officials called the police and tried to file charges –  attempting to use the municipal law against painting graffiti on public or private property (which technically includes using chalk)!

That law had clearly never been used against a chalk message on a sidewalk. It was bizarre. The police sheepishly just sent a letter to the parents’ leader asking the parents to please not chalk the sidewalk again.

A bigger splash for the next meeting!

But the parents were just getting started! They passed out flyers around town and at local events inviting people to alert people and invite them to join the fight on behalf of the village’s children. They published a letter to the editor in the local paper. They began a petition to have the library director removed.

One of the various flyers that was passed out around town.

They made it clear that they would return for the next library board meeting on September 25. They prepared more hard-hitting testimony and organized a strong presence of parents – inside and outside.

On the day of the meeting, their energetic protest outside the building, along the street, was easily seen by passing traffic. The protest included a table where people could review copies of some of the books, and sign the petition to have the library director removed. This all got a lot of attention.

ALT TEXT The officials sent police officers to patrol the parents' protest. The parents showed them the library books. The police were shocked!

But the cowardly officials “run and hide” – absurdly claiming they were “threatened” by a parent’s testimony

The protest had been going strong outside the building. But as library board meeting time got closer, the parents outside discovered that the meeting had been moved to a different location – the village town hall. They were also told that there would be no public comment allowed at that meeting. And there would be police at the meeting.

What was this all about? One mother spoke with the village president (similar to a mayor) at that meeting. She said that he accused the parents of being “against LGBTQ” (which they don’t deny!) and told her that the library board felt their lives were threatened by testimony at the previous meeting. Thus, police were now present. He also said that the law allows a public board to prohibit public comment.

What was the testimony that the library board members considered to be a death threat? The answer is more absurd than you can imagine: It was the mother’s Bible quote that she read at the previous meeting:

The Bible speaks about those who intentionally harm children. Matthew 18:6: "But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea."

But our side wasn’t intimidated by any of this. Even though they weren’t allowed to testify, parents showed up at the meeting and held up their signs – just so the officials still got the message!

The parents are continuing to move forward. They’re getting the word out and gathering more signatures on their petition. The town officials are visibly on the defensive. And although the village council (similar to a city council) can’t directly deal with library operations, they will also be getting an earful at their upcoming meetings!

Final thoughts

We’ve observed this so many times before. Normal people would be sickened just looking at what’s in these “children’s” books. But so many of our public officials are clearly not normal people. They not only are not bothered at all that children have access to these books, and they go to great lengths to keep them available.

Most of the time they can count on the parents who oppose the books to be meek and compliant – and eventually give up. But under our watch, those days are numbered!

As we say, the first step is to understand that obscene books don’t just walk into a library by themselves. A person being paid by tax dollars purposefully selects them. And others work to keep them there. This issue must be front-and-center until it’s solved!
