Sometimes you have to step up to a greater challenge!!

A big problem in “red” states across the country has been RINOS in their legislature – leftists who campaign as conservative Republicans, then govern like Democrats when most people aren’t watching them.

That’s been happening all too often in Idaho. We experienced this problem with our MassResistance resolution urging the US Supreme Court to overturn its infamous 2015 Obergefell same-sex “marriage” ruling.

As you may recall, last year after the Idaho House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed our resolution, it got killed in the Idaho Senate. It had been sent to the Senate State Affairs Committee. The committee’s chairman, a notorious liberal pro-LGBT Republican, Jim Guthrie, refused to give it a hearing.

According to our Idaho activists, Guthrie has killed numerous other pro-family bills, including a repeal of the detested sexual orientation and gender identity non-discrimination law, and he tried to stop school choice in Idaho. Earlier this year he allowed a critical immigration bill to have a hearing, but then he got the committee to kill it. He also blocked an important pro-life bill.

This year the Idaho House of Representatives has passed our resolution AGAIN. It’s been sent to Guthrie’s Senate State Affairs Committee. Our sources tell us that he’s adamant that it will never see a floor vote in the Senate.

A great former MassResistance activist, David Worley, has stepped up to the plate in Guthrie’s eastern Idaho Senate district to replace him! David is a true pro-family fighter, business owner, and member of the Idaho National Guard. He has gotten statewide attention for his principled pro-family beliefs. He’s a solid guy who is popular in the district and across the state.

An outstanding pro-family activist

In 2023, David helped lead our chapter in Pocatello, Idaho. Parents there were outraged over the hundreds of repulsive pornographic books in the public library. Prior to one library board meeting that year, board members found out that dozens of MassResistance parents were coming to complain and confront them about the books. So only two board members showed up, lacking a quorum, and the meeting was abruptly cancelled right when it was scheduled to start. But the parents stayed and held their own “Town Hall” meeting there, led by David, who showed pictures from some of the books.

At the impromptu "Town Hall" meeting David described the content of the horrible books in the library, and held up these pictures from the books that he had planned to show the library board.

At the following library board meeting, even more MassResistance parents came and filled the room. This time the board members couldn’t ignore them! They got an earful.

The parents flooded the next library board meeting and sounded off about the sexuality and obscenity targeting children in the library.

The activism didn’t stop there. A few months later, the MassResistance parents shut down the “Gay Pride Month” display at the public library. 

National Guard lawsuit over his pro-family beliefs

David is also an officer in the Idaho National Guard, though he was careful to speak out against the pornography, drag queens targeting children, and similar issues only in his non-military life.

But in 2024 he was nearly forced out of the National Guard because a homosexual enlisted man in his unit filed a formal complaint about his off-duty pro-family activities, claiming it constituted anti-LGBT “discrimination.” (The complaint also attacked Idaho MassResistance for organizing library protests.) Outrageously, the “woke” Idaho National Guard commanders took that complaint seriously instead of dismissing it. They removed David from his command and took steps to discharge him. They even grilled him about being a “member” of MassResistance (though we are not a membership organization).

But David refused to back down on his beliefs. The national legal group Liberty Counsel took on David’s case, and has been fighting it in court. The case has gotten statewide and national attention, and David is a hero among conservatives across Idaho. The RINO Idaho Governor (who officially runs the National Guard) and Attorney General have ignored the public outcry to intervene in that outrageous situation. The case is still going on. But David isn’t slowing down!

Primary coming up on May 19

The district, Idaho Senate District 28, includes the cities of Pocatello, McCammon, American Falls, Rockland, Chubbuck, Preston, Roy, Downe, Dayton, Clifton, and Banida. The Republican primary between Worley and Guthrie is on May 19. In that district, whoever wins the Republican primary invariably ends up being the winner in the general election.

Worley’s campaign website is WorleyForIdaho.com. His candidacy sends a clear message: Idaho needs leaders who prioritize pro-family policies, not obstruct them. More important, it’s an opportunity to get rid of a big obstacle to conservative reforms in the state of Idaho!

Final thoughts

We can’t understate the negative impact RINO legislators have in “red” states across America. The conservative voters in those states are not being represented in any meaningful way.
